Introduction

As a Tuscany wedding photographer, I’ve learned that timing is everything — the right month means softer light, happier guests, and effortless photos.

Wondering when Tuscany looks its most magical for your wedding photos?
As a local wedding photographer who’s been lucky to capture love stories from Chianti’s rolling hills to Florence’s historic streets, I can tell you this: timing is everything.
The right month means better light, happier guests, and photos filled with warmth and atmosphere — that’s the magic of Italy.

☀️ Spring — May & June: Romantic and Full of Life

Why couples love it:
Spring in Tuscany feels like a dream. The hills are bright green, vineyards are waking up, and the weather is just right — around 20–26°C (68–79°F). It’s the perfect balance of color, comfort, and calm before the summer crowds.

Photographer’s insight:
For any Tuscany wedding photographer, May and early June offer the gentlest golden light and plenty of time before dinner.
The sun doesn’t set until around 8:30 or 9:00 pm, which means plenty of time for relaxed portraits before dinner.
It’s also when wildflowers bloom and olive groves glow — a photographer’s paradise.

🌻 Summer — July & August: Vibrant, Bold, and Warm

Pros:
Long days, vivid sunsets, and warm nights for dinner under the stars.
Cons:
It can get hot (30–35°C / 86–95°F), especially in cities like Florence and coastal spots like Positano.

Photographer’s tip:
If you’re dreaming of a summer wedding, plan your portraits at sunrise or sunset and pick a hilltop venue — that Tuscan breeze changes everything.
Evening light around 7:30–8:30 pm is incredibly cinematic, especially in Chianti and Val d’Orcia.

Pro insight: Avoid mid-August (Ferragosto) — Italians are on holiday, and travel can get complicated.

🍇 Fall — September & October: The Hidden Gem

Why it’s special:
Warm days, cooler evenings, and golden vineyards — autumn in Tuscany feels timeless.
The grape harvest adds a rustic charm that couples from abroad absolutely love.
Temperatures stay around 18–28°C (64–82°F), and the skies are often crystal clear.

Photographer’s insight:

As a Tuscany wedding photographer, I’ve seen how each month brings its own magic light.

September gives you warm, honey-colored light — my personal favorite for portraits.
By October, Tuscany turns into a painter’s palette: ochre hills, misty mornings, and sunsets that look straight out of a movie.
If you love that cinematic, fine-art look — this is your moment.

🌧️ Winter — November to March: Intimate & Elegant

Perfect for: elopements, proposals, or small weddings in Florence, Siena, or cozy countryside villas.
Fewer tourists, better rates, and a more intimate feel.

Photographer’s tip:
Sunsets are early (4:30–5:00 pm), so indoor spaces with natural light or candlelit dinners work beautifully.
Even a rainy day in Florence can look cinematic — reflections on cobblestones, candles, and window light make for unforgettable shots.

  • Avoid midday harsh light (11 am – 3 pm).
  • Consider a “day after” or sunrise session for relaxed, natural portraits.
  • If you’re planning with a Tuscany wedding photographer, choose the season that matches your vision.
